Blog name.

I’ve never been 100% in love with this blog name… I just kind of decided to give up the search for a perfect name so that I could actually start posting somewhere.

So, what do you think? Would you rename? Would you like to see a little poll with other options?

Quick mirror update.

Good news! I sent out the search crews (aka, my mom) and she found TWO of the mirrors in her local TJ Maxx store. Not before dragging my husband out (after working out) to two stores, without directions, after work yesterday though…

Search OVER!

What’s the best deal you’ve ever scored for your home? Anything you’ve lusted after and then found a fantastic ‘look for less’ deal on?

No, not the kind of hunting that involves stomping around in the woods… The kind that involves one sweet Marshalls/TJ Maxx/HomeGoods score that, in turn, has left me calmly looking running ALL around town like a maniac searching for two additional matching pieces….because I know they exist. I. Know. It.

What are the magical pieces? I’ll give you a hint.

Yep, mirrors. Big beveled mirrors, in mirrored frames!

Now, if you’re in the Charlotte and surrounding area and you find yourself in the general vicinity of one of these stores, I expect that you’ll take a quick run in to the store, straight to the mirror section (like I’ve been doing) and do a little due diligence in scoping out the final missing piece. Meanwhile, I’ll be coming up with excuses to go out of my way to stores I haven’t already scoped out.

Wish me luck.

Happy Saturday, dear readers!

I’m sitting here with a massive headache/hangover and wishing I had exercised a little more self-control last night. Oh well. čśŽ

I just love this picture. Every time I look at it I feel happy and jealous because I really want to throw (or have thrown for me) a party like this with balloons everywhere. It might be random…but so am I!

Any exciting plans for the weekend? My parents are in town to watch the Superbowl at our house this weekend so today we’re heading out to do a little shopping. Keeping my fingers crossed that I stumble upon something wonderful for the house!

Right now I’m loving.

Ok – so maybe limiting it to “Right now” is a bit…well…limited. I am obsessed. Have been for a while, and anticipate it continuing and probably getting worse.┬á Have you ever been to the EmersonMade site!? Emerson and her husband run the site/company…all of it…and can I just say they are doing it right! Love the personality and all the excitement, love the clothes, love the dots and adore the duck.

If I could pick just a few things for myself to take home today they’d be

The Great Wide Belt. Seriously. This came across my Facebook news feed this morning and I pretty much stopped what I was doing so that I could go investigate. This is the belt I’ve been searching for for at least the last two years. Perfection.

A Gold Coin Necklace. I don’t even know which one I’d pick, because I love all of the meanings, but I do know that I would probably never take it off. Love.

This Red Robin Dress. The more I look at it, the more I need it. It’s basically perfect.

So…that’s what I’d take away right now if I had to choose. Although, if I’m choosing, I’d choose more than that because I love it all.

In other news, I think my cat just fell off the end table I’m dying for spring and summer so that I can throw a party in the yard. I would want it to look something like this

I stumbled across this yesterday evening over on High Gloss (which I stumbled on via Erin Gates’ blog Elements of Style) – a brand new e-mag filled with gorgeous home, fashion and style images and articles. Anyway, back to the picture, I die. The yard, the trees, the chairs… I want it now.

Hope you all had great Thursdays. As you know, they’re my fav. day of the week!

Dining Room.

I’m not going to beat around the bush with this one… We got our dining room furniture delivered yesterday afternoon!!!

Wanna see? Ok. I’ll show you.

There was one little hiccup during after the delivery. One of the chairs (actually, the one you see right in the front/center of the picture above) was broken and we didn’t realize it until after the delivery truck was pulling out of our driveway. Thankfully Haverty’s was very reasonable when I called and they’ve already scheduled a date for the chair to be exchanged. Oh – and in case you’re wondering – the set is called Copley Square.

We read some reviews about the finish scratching really easily, so we plan on buying a table pad and tablecloth to keep it safe and beautiful.

My next dilemma is curtains. Clearly we need them. How awkward would having dinner (when it’s dark out) in this room where everyone who drives by can see you!? Not good.

Any suggestions on colors for curtains? I can’t decide if I want to keep it neutral and do an ivory curtain or if I want to do something patterned…or something orange or blue…

So many options.

Now, I’d like to remind you of where we came from…

Bad news, good news and better news.

So, bad news, good news and better news.

Bad news first. We didn’t come back from Atlanta with a dining room table. When we saw it in person on Saturday it was actually laughably small – it even seemed shorter than a standard table. Maybe it wasn’t, and it was just the small size that made it seem short, but either way we knew it wasn’t the table for us. The take-away from this is that when you’re buying something pricey, that is supposed to be a staple piece in your home for years to come, you generally want to see it in person before you make the investment. We could have ordered it and sent it back, but then we would have been out our shipping money and the time spent at home waiting for the delivery, only to be disappointed.

Good news. We left Ballard Designs with an 8×10′ jute rug which I am in love with. The rug is soft, which I have found to be unusual in jute rugs, usually they’re scratchy…so that’s a plus!

And, here it is in our ever-so-empty room.

I like it! What do you think?

So, on to better news…

The hubs and I did buy a dining room table today. After being so disappointed with the table we thought we would most definitely love we decided to go back to the table that we initially loved.┬á And tonight, after work, we went out and bought the table and a few other ‘surprise’ pieces! Even better news, it all delivers on Wednesday.

Until then, I’m keeping it a secret!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
